Large scale rice mill owners have expressed willingness to provide rice at concessionary prices during this festive season, at a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.
Accordingly, the mill owners have agreed to sell a kilo of Nadu rice at a maximum retail price of Rs. 98 while a kilo of Samba will be sold at Rs.99 with effect from yesterday.
The Finance Ministry in a release said that the decision taken by the mill owners will help consumers to purchase their rice requirements at a concessionary price through the distributors of rice mill owners islandwide.
