Twenty-nine held at Facebook party

Twenty-nine youths, including four girls, were arrested with illegal drugs in their possession at a Facebook party held at a hotel in Thambiliyana in the Avissawella Police Division on Saturday night (12).

The arrests were made following a tip-off received by Avissawella Police Station. The police have also seized illicit drugs, including 1,315 milligrammes of heroin, 525 milligrammes of ice and 10.210 milligrammes of Kerala cannabis from the possession of the suspects.

The suspects were identified as residents of Embilipitiya, Dehiowita, Kosgoda, Galle, Matara and Colombo. They were to be produced before the Avissawella Magistrate Courts yesterday (13). Police investigations are continuing.
