Student commits suicide demanding release of Tamil prisoners

An eighteen- year- old Tamil student committed suicide this morning (26) by leaping in front a moving  train in the Kondawil area demanding  the government to release all Tamil political prisoners.

The deceased, a student of the Kokkuvil Hindu College, Jaffna had written a letter addressing President Maithripala Sirisena before committing suicide demanding him to release all the Tamil political prisoners and to provide rehabilitation.

The body has been placed at Jaffna Teaching Hospital for the post-mortem.

Police are conducting further investigations in this regard.
