WHAT A MIRACLE FRIEND YOU HAVE BEEN

There is a miracle called friendship that dwells within the heart. You don’t know how it happens or even when it starts, but the happiness it brings always gives a special lift, reminding us that friendship is one of God’s most precious gifts.

January 4th marks the 77th birth anniversary of my miracle friend, the late Kenneth Perera, who was born on this day in 1948. Kenneth began his primary education at St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, where we were classmates, and continued his secondary education at Stafford College, Colombo.

It is both an honor and a pleasure to write these few lines about him, my cherished, long-time friend. Kenneth was a friend who showed his love and loyalty in times of trouble, not just during moments of happiness. He proved that true friendship doesn’t depend on one’s abilities or achievements but on one’s availability and sincerity.

He demonstrated that time, power, or money may not always support us, but a good nature, understanding, spiritual grounding, and true spirit will always sustain us. Kenneth taught me that friendship is not about constant agreement but about enduring understanding and shared memories. Almost every memory we created together feels as fresh as the day it happened. Memories may fade over time, but Kenneth is not just a memory to me; he is a part of who I am.

May our grief be replaced by cherished memories that will never fade. They will remain close to our hearts forever. No matter how much time passes, the moments we shared will always shine brightly. These memories are treasures no one can ever take away.

I am grateful for the time we had together and all that Kenneth shared with me. Though he left us far too early, his loving presence endures in our hearts. We will honor his memory by cherishing the moments we shared and carrying forward his legacy.

Rest in peace, my miracle friend. You are gone but never forgotten. A true friend’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved them. For us, there are no goodbyes—wherever you are, Kenneth, you will always remain in our hearts.

We pray, Dear Lord, as we remember our friend who has left us, bless his precious soul and have mercy on him. Keep Kenneth in Your loving care until we meet again in Heaven. In Jesus’ holy name, we pray.
