An owner of the franchise Galle Marvels team in the ongoing Lanka T10 League has been arrested by the Special Police Unit for the Prevention of Misconduct Related to Sports on charges of alleged match-fixing.
It is reported that the suspect in question proposed match-fixing for money to a West Indian player participating in the Lanka T10 Super League cricket tournament.
The arrest was made after a foreign player lodged a complaint, claiming to have been approached with a suspicious offer related to match-fixing. Details about the nature of the approach are yet to be disclosed, as investigations are still in progress.
Authorities are now investigating the incident, which has raised concerns about the integrity of the inaugural Lanka T10 tournament.
