Sri Lanka’s Adhithya Weerasinghe delivered an impressive performance on Day 2 of the IGU All India Junior Boys Golf Championship, climbing to 13th place with a gross score of 149 after the second round continued in Karnataka Golf Association in Bangalore, India yesterday.
Competing in a field of 22 players who advanced, Weerasinghe’s strong showing has bolstered Sri Lanka’s hopes for a top-five finish. With two steady rounds remaining, the Ananda College player—is well-positioned to make his mark in this elite tournament.
Fellow Sri Lankan golfer Reshan Algama, who started the day one in the top four, had a modest round but remains in contention with a gross score of 151. Algama is now focused on regaining his momentum over the next two days to push further up the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, Thejas Rathis, the third Sri Lankan in the competition, completed his rounds with a gross score of 162. Though further down the rankings, Rathis has gained invaluable experience competing against some of the best junior golfers in the region.
Notably, all three Sri Lankan players successfully made the cut with impressive performances over the first two rounds of the four-round competition.
India’s Veer Ganapathy leads Category A with a total score of 142, while Kartik Singh dominates Category B with an exceptional 137.
