Each of these activities communicates values, narratives, and beliefs that sustain the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan cultural practices in the USA.
While being entertained by cultural performances from around the world along with a fashion show, you can relax in the comfort of your living room.
The show will originate from Los Angeles, California. You will be entertained with a variety of attractive offerings and invited to see presentations from businesses and other Sri Lankan organisations worldwide.
When the annual in-person ‘Sri Lanka Day’ was last celebrated in the historic city of Pasadena in 2019, thousands of city and State visitors gathered to witness the celebrations, and this year’s virtual cultural festival will bring a global audience.
The festivities will feature events staged from around the world. The sights and sounds and the unique taste of Sri Lanka will come to life virtually. Dance and music performances will be staged throughout, and Sri Lankan bands playing baila music will keep your toes tapping.
‘Sri Lanka Day’ celebrations are sponsored and organised by the Sri Lanka Foundation International, Los Angeles, CA. The foundation was the brainchild of Dr. Walter Jayasinghe, a leading expatriate physician who came to the U.S. in the early 1960s. In 2003, he established the Foundation to promote Sri Lankan cultural activities in the US.
The event is co-sponsored by a leading group of Sri Lankan and US companies worldwide. It will exceed standards set by long-established ethnic events anywhere, and it will be a matter of pride to every Sri Lankan that their compatriots can stand side by side with other nations wherever they may be.
