‘Opposition protected by the underworld’

Chief Government Whip and Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said in Parliament yesterday that the Opposition is protected by the underworld.

“The Opposition has protested since the launch of the ‘Yukthiya’ operation by former Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon. The underworld is happy after the removal of the IGP. The underworld is giving protection to the Opposition. That is why there is so much excitement about the SC verdict.

He further said that the Opposition strongly opposed the Yukthiya operation and that is why it advocated for Tennakoon’s removal.
