Playing in LPL gives me new experience and I am really enjoying so far in this tournament said Galle Marvels opener Alex Hales .
We won three matches by close margins and for the first time I had to face a super over in my career said former England top order batter Hales who is the icon player of Galle Marvels .
It’s something different for me. I don’t think I’ve ever batted in a super-over before. Obviously, games don’t often go there and you often give the super over to the sort of death hitters, the guys who are used to batting at the end. So it was a new role for me, but luckily I got one away from the middle early and we were only chasing seven runs. I think if we were chasing 15, it would have been a bit of a different story. But luckily we bowled really well in our super over and, yeah, I enjoyed it,” Hales said.
I’m pleased to have found some form in my first time in a new competition. I’ve really enjoyed it. We’ve got a great bunch of guys and it’s good to come to a new country and learn some new skills and have to adapt to different conditions. Yeah, my experience so far in Sri Lanka has been very
memorable. We performed well as a team with some really close games. Hales added.
Alex Hales has been in good form in the tournament as he’s the third highest run-scorer till now with 281 runs in 7 matches with an average of 46.83 and a strike-rate of 139.80.Hales and Skipper Niroshan Dickwella open the innings for Galle Marvels and the pair always tried to build up quick opening stand to challenge opponent bowlers .
We as a team we are playing very well and good atmosphere on and off the field we had a thrilling win in a super over against Dambulla Sixes and .Maheesh Theekshana the mystery spinner started the super over with a good plan . Theekshana was superb in the match as he defended eight runs in the last over for Galle and also conceded just 6 runs in the super-over to give Galle a fabulous win as well as the qualification for the knockouts said Alex .. It was a brilliant super-over there, started with a couple of wides but I think that was the plan to take it away from Nabi and I thought he did really well and we also fielded well, took a catch and got a run out and it gave us a chance to win in the last over.”said Hales .
Hales was playing for Nottinghamshire in England’s Vitality Blast 2024 which started on May 30. He then joined Galle Marvels in Sri Lanka to play for the first time in his career. He debuted by scoring 65 runs in his first match at Pallekele
Hales came to play LPL after playing eight matches for Nottinghamshire. He says that the long schedule of T20 blast made him choose the LPL. He also shares his desire to play LPL in the coming years too as he’s enjoying the tournament very much. Hopefully I can keep coming in the next few years and, playing well and enjoying myself,” Hales said.
