Former Sri Lanka Captain and chief selector Sanath Jayasuriya, presently working as a Consultant for the High Performance Unit, will be appointed as Sri Lanka’s Interim Head Coach until the England series.
The new post requirement for National team as the resigned of head coach Chris Silverwood and SLC coaches Consaltant Mahela Jayawardena after disappoiting T-20 World Cup and SLC has to fill new posts for the forthcoming series. In addition there is a rumour about changing T-20 captaincy but so far it s not decided said Sri Lanka Cricket senior official.
The Master Blaster Jayasuriya was recently appointed High Performance Unit consultant and he was a member of the tour party at the recently concluded ICC under 19 World Cup in South Africa as well as ICC T-20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. Sri Lanka Cricket already looking to get new head coach for National team but they are expected to go with Interim Head Coach for next two series. Jayasuriya’s name is mentioned for this position.
Sri Lanka’s next assignment is a white ball home series against India, who were just crowned T20 World Cup champions. India’s tour of Sri Lanka consists of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 and most probably three T-20 games will be played at Pallekele while three ODIs going to play at R.Premadasa International Cricket Stadium Colombo but the mach dates are not fixed, said senior official of the SLC. In August, Sri Lanka team will travel to England for a three match Test series.
