Two Olympic-qualified athletes, Tharushi Karunaratne and Dilhani Lekamge, were highly appreciated by Ceylon Foods International Pvt Ltd at the Ritzbury Schools Relay Carnival, which concluded at Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla, on Thursday.
Tharushi Karunaratne, a 19-year-old from Walala A. Ratnayake MMV, and Dilhani Lekamge soldier attached to the Sri Lanka Army excelled in their respective events, the 800m and javelin throw. Their exceptional performances earned them spots in the Paris Olympics, starting on July 26. Both athletes overcame many difficulties on their journey, and Ritzbury stepped forward to support their achievements.
Tharushi Karunaratne and Dilhani Lekamge each received a cash cheque of 1,000,000 rupees from Ceylon Foods International Pvt Ltd, presented by Nilupul de Silva, General Manager of Marketing. Ritzbury also provided a monthly scholarship of 10,000 rupees to selected talented school athletes, with Tharushi being one of the recipients.
