All rounder Dunith Wellalage has shown his potential in the ongoing Lanka Premier League tournament while playing for Colombo Strikers which is led by Thisara Perera.
Dunith Wellalage the leg spinner was outstanding with the ball taking four wickets (4 for 20 )against defending champions Kandy Falcons in their opening game at Pallekele . Pakistan leggie Shadab Khan also in Colombo team had 4 for 20 including a hat trick .Shadab pointed out young Wellalage ‘ s potential.He is a very gutty player not only in bowling but his batting and fielding is also exceptional.The way he bowls during the power play is exceptional and he is an asset for Sri Lanka team in future said Shadab Khan.
Meanwhile in the game between Colombo Strikers and Galle Marvels once again young Dunith Wellalage came to the fore with his batting. He came to bat at number 8 and scored 26 balls 45 with 5 fours and 2 sixes but Galle Marvels won by thrilling three runs to come on top Dunith Wellalage the former St Joseph’s Colombo skipper and National under 19 skipper will get more exposure from this LPL .Players have to mix with foreign players while some foreign coaches like Graham Ford ( Dambulla Sixes) is giving their assistance to players and youngsters to get more benefit from this franchise Wellalage was the member of the T – 20 world cup squad but he couldn’t play a single match and had to sit on the bench .
Meanwhile today(6) two LPL matches scheduled to be played at Dambulla International cricket stadium. Kandy Falcons will meet Colombo Strikers at 3 pm while second game between Dambulla Sixes and Jaffna Kings scheduled to start at 7.30pm
