Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera ordered the relevant telephone companies to hand over the telephone data records related to the SIM cards of two mobile phones belonging to two teenagers who died after falling from the 67th floor of the Altair apartment building to Kompannavidiya Police.

The Magistrate made this order after considering a request made by the Kompannavidiya Police.

Police informed court that the deceased students had come to the house of a student located at the apartment who was studying in the same class with them and the Police had gone there to get a statement from him.

Police also informed court that the student’s father is a diplomat in Sri Lanka and the Police was informed to come with a Court Order to give statements since he has diplomatic privileges.

Accordingly, the Police requested court for orders to obtain the statement.

The Magistrate said that if the relevant officer has diplomatic privileges they should take steps to inquire about it and proceed under the relevant Act.
