Lanka Sathosa introduces special relief pack

Reduces prices of nine essential items

Lanka Sathosa, the state-owned supermarket chain, has announced that consumers have been provided an opportunity to buy a special relief pack of essential items from all its countrywide branches with effect from yesterday (2).

This special relief pack of essential goods sold at a concessionary price has been offered to all consumers by Sathosa in view of the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival.

Lanka Sathosa Chairman Pasanda Yapa Abeywardena said that this relief pack carrying 11 essential food items worth Rs.4,500 can be bought by consumers at a concessionary retail price of around Rs.3,420 per pack from all Sathosa outlets.

Lanka Sathosa has also taken steps to reduce the retail price of imported eggs with effect from midnight yesterday (2). Accordingly, the retail price of an imported egg has been reduced from Rs. 43 to Rs. 36.

In addition, Lanka Sathosa has also reduced the prices of nine essential consumer food items. Accordingly, the prices of Big Onions, Red Onions, Chickpeas, Potatoes, LSL Milk Powder, Flour, imported eggs, White Kekulu Rice (local) and Soya Meat have been reduced with effect from yesterday (2).

Accordingly, one kilo of Big Onions (Pakistan) which was previously sold at Rs. 550 is now sold at Rs. 495 with a discount of Rs. 55, a kilo of imported Red Onions previously sold at Rs. 320.00 has seen a price reduction of Rs. 30 and sold at the new price of Rs. 290, Chickpeas (Jumbo) 1 Kg has dropped its price to Rs. 494 from its previous price of Rs. 510 with a saving of Rs. 16, Potatoes (Pakistan) 1 Kg previously sold at Rs. 210 is now sold at Rs. 195 with a saving of Rs. 15, LSL Milk Powder 400 gram pack has come down from its previous price of Rs. 935 to Rs. 925with a saving of Rs. 10, a kilo of Wheat Flour (imported) previously sold at Rs. 200 is now sold at Rs. 192 providing a saving of Rs. 8, an imported egg which was sold at Rs. 43 has been reduced by Rs. 7 and now sold at Rs. 36, White Kekulu Rice (local) 1 Kg which was sold at Rs. 195.00 has been reduced by Rs. 3 and is sold at the new price of Rs. 192 and the price of Soya Meat (unflavoured) 1 Kg has been reduced by Rs. 2 from its previous price of Rs. 595 and now sold at Rs. 593.
