2024 is the year when the problems of the people will be solved, said Ashu Marasinghe, the UNP’s Minuwangoda constituency organizer and President’s Senior Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs.
He was speaking at the press conference held yesterday (30) at Sirikotha, the UNP’s headquarters.
Marasinghe expressed the following views: “2024 can be named as the year when the economic problems of the people of this country will be solved. The situation in the country changed two years ago. In reaching that situation, Parliament had to pass various laws, handle the economy carefully and implement a correct tax policy. We are confident that the Cost of Living will gradually decrease after February.
“When we celebrate independence on February 4, the people will have gained some economic freedom and freedom of conscience than before. They have the freedom to criticize the Government’s programme, support the Government’s programme, pay attention to it, and own it. Everyone is on this journey together. That is why the President always asks for support.
“The Prime Minister of Thailand will visit this Independence Day. The Free Trade Agreement between Sri Lanka and Thailand will be signed during his visit. Special economic benefits will be provided to our small and medium-scale entrepreneurs. As predicted by the Capital Research Institute, the value of the dollar will decrease to Rs. 310. Also, the amount of US$ 75 million received from the World Bank is to be given to the development of small and medium-scale industrialists. Further, more than 10,000 people are engaged in Hela medicine all over Sri Lanka.”
