The Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) announced yesterday that the First Round matches of the Srixon RCGC Junior Open Golf Championship, sponsored by Srixon, will kick off today.
The tournament will feature four divisions across various age categories, namely Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper, for both boys and girls.
In the Gold Division, players aged Under-15 to Under-19 will engage in 18 holes of play in two teams – Boys (Black Markers) and Girls (Red Markers). Notable participants in the Gold Division include Junior Open Champion Jevahn Sathasivam, Reshan Algama, Janeesh Weerasinghe, Kvahn Tejwani, Yannik Kumara, Adithya Weerasinghe, K Danushan, Akein Subasinghe, Kian Niyarepola, Lorance Dedunu of Victoria Golf Club, Hirantha Lakshan, GS Sathsara, Nirwan Hettiarachchi, Hirusha Pramuditha, and Uditha Subodha.
Moving on to the Silver Division, players aged Under-15 will also participate in 18-hole matches, with teams categorized as Boys (Black Markers) and Girls (Red Markers). Notable contenders in this division include Thasindu Dhamsith, Divyashz Silva, T Deshan, Kavindi Umasha Sathsarani, Keshav Algama, Janumi Behansa, Pradhushan Gokul, Kaya Abhayaratne, Kaweesha Sandaruwan, Kaiyan Johnpillai, Idusha Bandara, Avincka Amarasinghe, Ayaan Gunasekara, Aaradhi Samararatne, and Suhan Silva.
The Bronze Division, for players aged Under-13, will see 14 holes of play per day, with teams designated as Boys (Yellow Markers) and Girls (Yellow Markers). Participants in this division include Ronal Scofield, Shenal Nimsith, Lithum Silva, Udeera Bandara, Pawan Sathy Praboshith, Levindu Nanayakkara, Ashane Sumantilleke, Nimasha Dahamdi, Javier Galapitage, Chamath Kavisara, and Lavindu Premarathne.
Lastly, the Copper Division for players aged Under-10 will feature nine holes of play for both boys and girls (Blue Markers). Participants in this category include Yuhas Samararathne, Revan Amarasinghe, Jaeden Sathasivam, Hesandi Gayansa Meepawala, Kerin, Kenul Scofield, Jaidon Herath, Vihara Herath, Abiman Abeywardhane, Thangaraja Sanuthi, Thangaraja Onitma, and Aqeel Hussain.
