Senior journalist Kesara Abeywardena assumed duties as the Editor of Daily News from yesterday. He was the Editor of Daily Mirror newspaper till May, 2023 and thereafter functioned as the Consultant Editor of Daily Mirror till end of December. Kesara Abeywardena began his journalism career at The Island newspaper in 1998 as a trainee journalist. He was also a member of the founding editorial team of The Nation newspaper in 2006. Moving to the Daily Mirror in 2007 he moved through the ranks and was appointed the Editor in 2015. He has wide ranging experience as a political and general news reporter, Parliamentary correspondent and a columnist.
