State Minister laments NMRA delay

CT scan machine released after inquiries

Mass Media State Minister Shantha Bandara stated in Parliament yesterday that the relevant departments must instruct the Sri Lanka Customs to immediately release the CT Scan machine which is a dire need of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

The State Minister said that more than two weeks have passed since this machine was imported to the country and the Customs has not taken any measures to release it. The Government is bearing a huge cost currently to send patients to hospitals in Kandy, Kegalle and Chilaw due to the lack of a CT scan machine which is desperately needed by the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

Therefore, he requested the relevant departments to pay immediate attention to this matter and release the machine immediately.

Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, that he inquired from the Sri Lanka Customs about the matter raised by the State Minister.

The relevant machine was released yesterday (6). He also added that the release of the relevant equipment has been delayed due to the approval of a permission to be obtained from the NMRA.
