Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya announced to the Parliament yesterday (23) that discussions have started on the establishment of a Task Force for careful monitoring and follow-up of last year’s Budget.
The State Minister said that a total of 120 budget proposals were presented for 2023 and Rs.49,480 million rupees was allocated for that. Out of these proposals, 24 revenue proposals and 17 policy proposals have been implemented so far. The Minister said that the total number of proposals that have been initiated and implemented is 62. In those 62 proposals, there are five revenue proposals, 27 expenditure proposals and 30 policy proposals. He said that the percentage of proposals that have been started and completed is as high as 86% of the total number of Budget proposals.
These Budget proposals should be implemented in the medium and long-term and some of the proposals should be implemented several years ahead.
The State Minister said that the discussions on the establishment of the Budget Task Force have been started and the preliminary work has been discussed in depth and the work of setting up the task force has been done in the future and said that it will be done in a way that will lead to sustainable supervision.
