The Marawila Police said a vessel carrying a group of people including a Japanese national who had gone to sea for fishing suddenly capsized, and a group of fishermen who acted promptly rescued them safely using their vessels yesterday (19). This group went to the sea for fishing in a tourist fishing boat from the sea area near the Marawila Holy Cross Church. It is said that this group was caught in a tidal wave while they were on the vessel yesterday (19), and they were thrown from the vessel into the sea. However, they were rescued and brought ashore as all of them were wearing safety vests.

Two persons, including the Japanese national were admitted to the Marawila Hospital. The vessel this crew was travelling in was dragged to the land using another fishing vessel. Marawila Police are conducting investigations.
