Suranga Perera of Sri Lanka Army won the men’s under 23 Cycling event while Susantha de Silva of Kadirana Speed CC won the Over 50 race at the Nestle Nestomalt Cycling Challenge concluded successfully last Sunday at the Viharamahadevi Park.
Soldier Suranga finished in 58 minutes and 25 seconds to come first in this under-23 38km race while Kalpa Rasanjana of Sri Lanka Navy was placed second with 58.29 seconds and third place was won by Air Force cyclist Chamath Abhisheka in a close fight as the two riders finished with the same time of 58.29 seconds.
Meanwhile, the masters over 50 race included veteran cyclists while Kadirana Speed CC Susantha de Silva finished in 47 minutes and 2 seconds in the 28km race and second and third places were won by M.M Mohideen of Speed Arrows CC and former champion cyclist Kamal Palitha of United CC and all three cyclists had a close fight with the same timing.
The much-awaited fixture sponsored by Nestlé Nestomalt, was organized by the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka under the guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
