The court issued an injunction to train driver Indika Dodangoda for attempting to tarnish the image of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana by making false accusations. Following submissions made on behalf of the Minister, by a panel of lawyers including V. K. Choksy PC, D. S. Ratnayake and Minoli Alexander on the advice of Dhammika Chiminige, regarding the damage done to his reputation by making false allegations in the media and social media that Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana has received bribes from an Indian company in connection with the awarding of a construction contract by the Railway Department, the Colombo No. 01 District Court had issued an injunction against Indika Dodangoda, a train driver.
Accordingly, the injunction issued by the court included that the accused had no right to make statements in any way including in interviews, defaming the complainant and acting in a manner directly or through another person, which insults the complainant and doing the same either directly or indirectly by the defendant or through any other person using any print, verbal or social media.
The case is scheduled to be heard on October 11.
Submissions are made on behalf of the complainant in this case, by a panel of lawyers including V.K. Choksy PC, D.S. Ratnayake and Minoli Alexander on the advice of Dhammika Chiminige.
Apart from this, Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana has submitted separate complaints to the Criminal Investigation Department and the Bribery Commission regarding the allegations made by Dodangoda.
