S.S.H Make wins junior boys’ Nestomalt Cycling title

Over 650 aspiring cyclists participated at the Nestlé Nestomalt Cycling Challenge 2023 concluded successfully yesterday (24) at the Viharamahadevi Park while S.S.H Make of Kadirana Speed Cycling Club was placed first at junior men’s category while M.A.S.H Samaraweera of Kelaniiya Cycling Club was placed second and the third place was won by M.D.D Perera of Wennappuwa Cycling Club. The 28 km race was ended in 43 minutes and 49 seconds by junior men’s winner while second placed winner finished in 44.08 minutes with third place also having same timing.

The open men and women cyclists and junior men and women cyclists participated in this Nestomalt cycling event.

The event was sponsored by Nestlé Nestomalt, and organized by the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka under the guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Staying true to its’ promise of ‘powering progress’ by inspiring Sri Lankans to lead a healthy active lifestyle, the ‘Good food, Good life’ company’s flagship brand sponsored the Cycling Challenge for the third consecutive year.

Given its’ endeavour to strengthen professional cycling in Sri Lanka, the Nestlé Nestomalt Cycling Challenge has gained a steady following since its inception three years ago.

Eight races were conducted as junior men’s and junior women’s were key attraction with most promising cyclists taking part .

Dr Amal Harsha de Silva the President of Sri Lanka Cycling Federation said they have an idea to promote cycling sport while the sponsors like Nestle Lanka PLC always give much needed assistance to conduct this type of cycling events to give more opportunity for cyclists.
