MP Uddika Premaratne stated in Parliament yesterday that the shooting at him was due to the existing system in this country.

The MP said that the political system in the country for a long time is wrong and that is why Sri Lanka has fallen into a prevailing crisis situation. The MP also said that he would like to express his thanks to all those who looked into him after this incident. He said this while making a special statement yesterday in Parliament.

“My vehicle was shot at on September 17 night. Police and the CID are now investigating the incident. Thank you to everyone who looked after me after this incident.

“I think the existing system may have been influential in shooting at me rather than who committed the shooting. Everyone knows that this system is wrong. Our political system is wrong. That is why this country is in this situation.. We need to find what to change. We all need to work for it. Until that change is brought, this country cannot be built. This country demands that political transformation. We are asking to replace that difference. We are working as young people for that change,” he said.
