Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Nalaka Sanjeeva Jayasuriya yesterday ordered the Anuradhapura Police to investigate the incident where the Anuradhapura
District MP Uddika Premarathne’s car was shot at on Sunday and arrest those responsible and produce them in Court.
The Chief Magistrate further ordered the Police to submit a report to Court showing the progress of the investigation regarding this shooting incident. Anuradhapura Police, in a B report, informed Court that two shots were fired at the MP’s car when parked, near his house on Sunday (17) night. Police told Court that although the MP was not harmed due to the firing, the MP’s car was damaged.
Police also mentioned that statements have been recorded from the MP and the two MSD officers assigned for his security. Two Police teams and the Anuradhapura Divisional Crime Investigation Branch are conducting further investigations.
