Israeli airline Arkia for the first time will operate direct flights between Tel Aviv and Colombo, starting from October 21. The frequency would be twice a week.
The local GSA for the airline is Andrew Travels and 400 are expected .
The opportunity to commence direct flights between the two countries came as a result of a discussion between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government of Israel.
The representatives of the aviation sector from Israel paid special attention to the security conditions at the Katunayake airport and the surrounding area during the commencement of flight operations.
