The Bambalapitiya Police have started an extensive investigation to arrest a suspect who escaped after cutting the hand of a constable who was on security duty at the official residence of a Magistrate in Aluthkade on De Fonseka Road, Bambalapitiya.
The Bambalapitiya Police say that a constable attached to the Bambalapitiya Police Station, who was assigned to guard the official house of the Magistrate, was injured.
This officer has been deployed in the security of the Magistrate’s official house on Saturday (16). On Sunday (17) around 5.30 am, this officer heard some noise from the road in front of the Magistrate’s official residence and paid attention to it. He saw two people on a motorcycle removing the two side mirrors of a jeep parked on the road near the Magistrate’s official residence.
When the constable immediately went to arrest the two suspects, one of them cut his right hand and left the two side glasses of the jeep and fled.
The injured Police officer has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment. Police said that the jeep belonged to the residents opposite the Magistrate’s official residence.
