Kinniya Central College, National School, in the district of Trincomalee, emerged Champions beating Zahira College, Colombo by a solitary goal to nil, in a thrilling final, of the Boys under 14 Samaposha all Island football Championship 2023, sponsored by Samaposha, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Football Association, played at the Race Course ground, Reid Avenue, Colombo-07 on 30 of July (Sunday).
In the first 10 minutes of play, no scoring was done by both teams and in the second 10 minutes too, the score remained as the same and the score was nil all at half time. In the second half of the first 10 minutes, both teams playing with their hearts out failed to score.
In the second 10 minutes of the second half, with the game becoming more and more interesting, the spectators of both teams on their toes, Kinniya Central College midfielder taking a direct kick to the top left hand corner of the goal post at the last minute of the last 10 minutes, Zahira College, Colombo custodian with much excitement, did not take the ball keenly, referee seeing it has a foul play, awarded a penalty to Kinniya Central College, Skipper N.M. Fathi taking the kick, made no mistake, to give his School the under 14 Boys Samaposha under 14 all Island football championship for the 3rd consecutive year.
Principal of Kinniya Central College, A.M. Mulowfar, who is very keen to develop football at his school and, MIC cum coach, N.J.M. Aasik, were towers of strength for these young lads who clinched the under 14 all Island football Championship for the year 2023 and for the third consecutive year.
