The Kilinochchi Magistrate Courts yesterday imposed a foreign travel ban on Leader of the TNPF MP, Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam.
This is after Police reported facts to the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court regarding the incident where a group of people including Parliamentarian Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam, behaved in an unruly manner while obstructing the duties of two Police officers near the GCE Ordinary Level Examination Co-ordinating Centre at the Maradankerni Thalayadi Roman Catholic College recently.
Police reported to Court that the MP and others with him had obstructed their duty. Court earlier ordered the Police to detain and question two people including Ponnambalam’s Party Organizer for the Vadamarachchi East Electorate until today.
Police also informed court that Ponnambalam has also failed to come to the police station to give a statement despite repeated requests.
Earlier, Public Security Minister Tiran Alles too had called a report from the Police regarding this incident. A video of Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam behaving violently has been posted on social media networks.
