A person who was admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital after being assaulted due to a personal dispute was attacked with a sharp weapon by a person inside the hospital and the patient died yesterday (28).
The deceased is a 24 year old youth residing in Medawachchiya.
This person, who was attacked by several people has been admitted to the Ward no 11 of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and later he was transferred to a surgical ward of the Professorial unit of the same teaching hospital for further treatment. While the patient was receiving treatment in this unit, a man who entered the unit at around 5 am yesterday morning, attacked the young man with a sharp weapon in the neck area and a leg and has run away. According to the hospital sources, the patient died few minutes after he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
