Indian Assistant High Commissioner’s office arranges free Hindi classes

A programme to teach Hindi free of charge has been launched in the districts of Kandy, Kegalle, Matale and Kurunegala under the guidance of Indian Assistant High Commissioner’s office in Kandy.

This office intends to hold this programme which was conducted at the Indian Assistant High Commissioner’s office, Kandy only, up to now, throughout the island.

The Indian Assistant High Commissioner’s office said that relevant classes are being held at present at the Bharathi Pirivena Kandy, Sri Sangharakkhitha Pirivena, Giriulla, Kurunegala, the Kegalle Somananda Pirivena and the Gandhi Council, Matale.

This programme is being implemented under the initiative of Indian Assistant High Commissioner Dr. Athira S. Awarding of books related to the subject was carried out symbolizing the commencement of Hindi classes.

The Indian Assistant High Commissioner’s office will grant scholarships for further education in India for students who participate in these classes and obtain high marks.

Thirty-five Bhikkus are participating in the Hindi language class being conducted at the Kurunegala Giriulla Sri Sangharakkhitha Maha Pirivena.

The Indian Assistant High Commissioner’s office said that these teaching classes will be held in other districts of the island as well, based on requests made according to the requirement for learning the Hindi language that prevails.
