The 33rd Battle of the Kelaniya the Big Match between two leading schools in the Gampaha District Gurukula National College and Dharmaloka Vidyalaya Kelaniya will be worked off on 14th and 15th March 2023 and the 30th one dayer at R. Premadasa Stadium Colombo under the guidance of two Principals Kusala J. Fernando of Gurukula and Mrs. K. G. K. Dinithi Amarasinghe of Dharmaloka and the two coaches are Rasitha Dinesh of Gurukula and Thilina Anuradha of Dharmaloka respectively.
This encounter commenced in 1988 and so far 32 matches have been played and Gurukula leading with three games to nil and rest were drawn and 29 One Dayers have been played and the tally stands at 14 each and one ended in a tame draw. The two captains are Janitha Shehan of Gurukula and his deputy is Mohamed Murshed and Dharmaloka will be led by Helanka Viduranga and his Vice Captain is Uditha Shehan.
According to the this season’s performances Dharmaloka has the edge having played 8 won 5 and lost 3 and Gurukula played 9 won 2 and 5 were drawn. Whatever the circumstances Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties and none can predict the result until the last ball is bowled.
