The Ampara District Youth Chess tournament was organized by Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) and held at the Al-Hilal Vidyalaya, Sainthamaruthu for two days recently.
The tournament was held as a part of Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championship -2023 while students from Ampara, Dehiyatakandy, Maha-Oya, Kalmunai, Akkaraipattu, Addalaichenai, Sammanthurai, Lahugala, Nintavur, Sainthamaruthu, Pottuvil, Maruthamunai and Thirukkovil in the Ampara district competed at open contest. Competitors from Oluvil Light Rook Academy who are students of Al-Madeena Vidyalaya, Oluvil coming under the purview of Akkaraipattu Education Zone won three medals under 08,10 and 12 ages groups boys’ and girls’ divisions at the chess tournament.

Students M.A. Muffaq Mohamed and M.A.A. Yoosuf Miktham received certificates.
These students are trained by Light Rook Academy Director and Coach W. Nijas. Winners and their Coach were congratulated by the Al-Madeena Vidyalaya Principal K.L. Ameer and the school community.
