The Kalutara South Police yesterday arrested a 14-year-old boy for attacking his elder brother to death with a knife at their residence in Palathota, Kalutara on Tuesday evening.
The 27-year-old elder brother has been killed following an argument between them over a love letter the suspect is said to have given to a girl from the same area. It was reported that elder brother had warned the suspect about this love letter and it had developed into an argument later.
According to the police, the victim sustaining injuries to his neck had been admitted to the Nagoda Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The mother of the duo had not been in the house by the time of the incident as she had gone to visit her husband, who was in hospital, police said. The deceased, Anuruddha Dhananjaya de Silva was a three-wheeler driver.
Police were to produce the suspect before the Kalutara Magistrate yesterday. Kalutara South Police are conducting investigations.
