Avishka Fernando (62), Manoj Sarathchandra (57) the two batsmen from Colombo and youngster Avishka Tharindu of Jaffna (50) hit half-centuries while the National Super League Four-day game between Jaffna and Colombo which ended in a draw at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The first two days lost to rain. On the third and fourth day, the two teams played without much interruption.
Jaffna made 199 with opener Ron Chandraguptha scoring 68 and leg spinner Tharindu Ratnayake took bowling honours for Colombo taking 4 for 24.
Colombo scored 289 in their first innings while Avishka Fernando the experienced top order batsman hit 62 well supported by middle-order batter Manoj Sarathchandra who completed a fine knock of 57.
At close, Jaffna made 229 for 8 wickets. Avishka Tharindu (50) and Lahiru Madushanka (44) made useful knocks while Nuwan Pradeep took 3 for 32 to complete a match bag of 6 wickets.
Meanwhile, the match between Kandy and Dambulla at Dambulla was washed out without a ball being bowled.
