All Island 2022 DSI under 19 Best player and Best player of the DSI under 19 finals, athlete, Member of the under 14 All Island-Schools Kabaddi Champion Team, Member of the Badminton all island under 16 runner up team Kavishka Chatumal has brought honour and immense glory to his three schools Janadhipathi Vidyalaya Nikaweratiya, Mahasen Maha Vidyalaya Nikaweratiya, St.Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa and his motherland with his deeds in the field of sports.
Kavishka who hails from Diyagama Nikaweratiya was born on June 03 2004 and initially admitted to his village school Janadhipathi Vidyalaya in 2010 and when he was under eleven he participated in the school inter house sports meet and swept the board in 50 and 75 metres and he won at the Divisional meet and at the Zonal he was second and at the Provincial meet he came second in 75 metres
In 2005 he joined Mahasen Vidyalaya Nikaweratiya he did Kabaddi, Badminton and Volleyball and in 2017 his school were the All Island under 14 Kabaddi Champions and a twelve member team toured Kerala, India and participated in Kabadddi in Club Level at Kerala and it was a fine exposure for Kavishka. Then in 2017 to 2019 he was a member of the School Badminton team and they were the All Island under 16 runners up and in the meantime playing for the Divisional and Zonal they were the under 16 Volleyball Champions.
Then in 2019 his Parents Somasiri Jayasundara and Asoka Kumari in the hope of giving their son a sound education admitted him to St.Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa and he easily walked into the under 16 Volleyball team and their team emerged all island third and in 2020 All Island Tournament they were runners up and in the 2022 DSI District and Provincial Tournaments they were the Champions and participating at the All Island under 19 tournament in 2022 they were the champions and Kavishka was adjudged as Best player in the finals and the Best player of the island for the Year 2022.
