Wire trap for macaques kills mother in Panvila

A mother residing at Panvila Police division has died after being electrocuted after getting tangled in an electric wire which was laid by a son of the deceased to protect the banana plantation from toque macaques (Rilawa).

The victim has been identified as a 52-year-old mother of three, named G.G. Cecilia, a resident of Panwila in Pallegama.

A daughter of the victim Thusitha Bandara has told the Panwila police that her mother died yesterday afternoon (26) after being tangled by an electric wire that her brother laid from the kitchen to the garden to protect the banana plantation in the residential land.

The electrocuted mother was already dead when she was admitted to the Menikhinna Hospital. Panwila police are investigating into the incident.
