Ten senior Police officers off to Russia for special training

Ten senior Police officers, including two senior DIGs left for Russia yesterday (23) for a two-week special training on combating organized crime.

Senior DIG in charge of North Western Province Lalith Patinayake, Senior DIG in charge of North Central Province Rajitha Daminda, DIG of Galle Ujith N. Liyanage, DIG Samantha De Silva, Head of Police Headquarters Administration Section, DIG Jagath C.Dhanapala of police intelligence.

Training and Recruitment Deputy Inspector General of Police Sampath Kumara, Deputy Inspector General in charge of Welfare W.J. Padmini  as well as Senior Superintendent of Police Kamini Senaratne, Planning Director of the Inspector General Secretariat, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Criminal Investigation Department Merril Ranjan Lamahewa and Assistant Police Superintendent of Presidential Security Division. Guruge had left for Russia.

The Police headquarters mentioned that invitations have been received for five such training workshops from Russia and in the future, teams of 10 senior officers each will go to Russia for that purpose.
