More buses from India to strengthen SL public transport

External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar during his official visit to Sri Lanka ceremonially handed over 50 buses under an ongoing credit line for supplying 500 buses to Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr.Bandula Gunawardena for strengthening the public transport infrastructure.

The 32-seater buses will further strengthen the existing fleet of public transport buses owned by the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB). Minister Dr. Gunawardena plans to deploy these buses through all the SLTB depots in the island for public transport in the rural areas of the country in conjunction with the 75th Independence Commemoration.

Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay, Public Transport State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and SLTB officials were present.
