St. Anthony’s Girl’s College Katugastota will meet Anura Vidyalaya Matara in the final of the Under 19 Girl’s Division Two Inter Schools Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket today at Nalanda College grounds Colombo.
64 teams participated in the tournament in the first round into 12 groups on a league basis. 28 teams advanced to the final round.
St. Anthony’s Girl’s College advanced to the final round as the group champion in the first round. St. Anthony’s Girl’s College beat Puthukkulam Maha Vidyalaya (Vavuniya) in the second round. St. Anthony’s Girl’s College beat Uhana Maha Vidyalaya in the pre quarter final and advanced to the quarter final. St. Anthony’s Girl’s College beat Dudley Senanayake Central College Tholangamuwa in the quarter final. St. Anthony’s Girl’s College beat Kekirawa Central College in the semi final.
Anura Vidyalaya Matara advanced to the final round as the group champion in the first round. Anura Vidyalaya beat Kegalu Vidyalaya in the second round and went on to beat Jayasiripura KV Polonnaruwa in the pre quarter final round. Anura Vidyalaya beat Sri Pragnananda Maha Vidyalaya Kumbukkana (Monaragala) and advanced to the semi final. They beat Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha (B) in the semi final.
Shalani Dassanayake will lead St. Anthony’s Girl’s College Katugastota and Devindi Rasanjana will lead Anura Vidyalaya Matara. Rismi Sanjana permanent skipper of Anura Vidyalaya has joined Sri Lanka Under 19 Girls team to the World Cup. Three Anura Vidyalaya players have joined including captain Rismi Sanjana, Rashmika Sewwandi, and Pamoda Shaini to the Under 19 Girls World Cup.
