Over 50 Agri Assistants to be suspended over frauds

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera on Wednesday ordered the Agrarian Development Department to suspend the services of 50 Agriculture Research and Production Assistants who have been accused of being involved in frauds in the distribution of chemical fertilizer and organic fertilizer.

The Minister drew serious attention towards the frauds that are alleged to have taken place in the distribution of fertilizer in the midst of unprecedented economic crisis in the country.

Over 300 such officers have been accused of involving in malpractices when the fuel licences were being distributed among the farmers during the last Season.
