Six member Sri Lanka marathon runners are scheduled to leave today (18) for the Dhaka International Marathon which will be held from Bangabandu Stadium in Dhaka Bangladesh.
The coach and manager of the Sri Lanka team Sajith Jayalal said the team is expected to take part both in both full marathon and half marathon events as they are perform well at South Asian level.
Actually we are in first three places at the South Asian Marathon and will be aiming for medals at this event.
This event is in two categories International and South Asian level while most of the leading world marathoners from Kenya, Ethiopia also will be in action and our players can get good exposure said Sajith Jayalal who is the renowned long distance coach and also Director of the National Sports Science institute (NSSI).
The athletes who excelled at the domestic marathons were selected for this tour and they have a good chance to improve their world ranking said Sajith. Our Marathon runners have a chance to compete with the best marathon players.
Sri Lanka team members will be training from today (17) and the marathon is scheduled to held day after tomorrow (20).
