ACJU to celebrate 100 years of service to Muslim Community and Nation

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has organised a number of events around the country this week to celebrate 100 years of service to the Muslim Community and the Nation.

The main centenary event of the ACJU will be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference (BMICH) hall on Thursday (19).

“Both the President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunewardena will participate in addition to other invitees which will include religious leaders of all faiths” ACJU General Secretary Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith” said.

He said the ACJU during its centenary celebrations will mainly focus on promoting co-existence and unity.

The other main areas of focus according to the General Secretary will be giving a better understanding to the public about the services provided by the ACJU, uplift education and support endeavours of the Government on efforts at socio-economic uplift.

ACJU President Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe will spearhead the efforts related to the ACJU centenary celebrations.

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has been in existence since 1924. It was incorporated by Parliament Act No. 51 of 2000.

The objectives of the ACJU are farsighted, long-run and designed to serve the Muslim Community and the nation.

At present ACJU has 163 Branches in 24 districts and over 8,000 Scholars as subscribed Members.

The ACJU has organised itself into Sub-Committees (Divisions) to serve its stakeholders, in which most of the veteran members are involved as volunteers, along with professional staff members in the forefront serving the community and the country together, focusing on the aspects of Ulama (Religious Scholars) Affairs, Muslim Community Affairs, Citizens Affairs and engagement with authorities.
