We were in the game but didn't have enough runs in the game said Sri Lanka Skipper Dasun Shanaka after the second ODI played at Eden Garden Kolkata on Thursday . India won the second ODI by four wickets to win the series 2-0 with one match to spare and third and final game will be played at Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday (15) from 1.30pm onwards (Sri Lanka time)

I think at the start we hoped to get about 280 but Kuldeep bowled well. We had a chance as the ball was moving. So I told my bowlers to stick to the basics. Sri Lanka had few positives in the second ODI as debutant Nuwanindu Fernando the 23 yesr old right hander opened the innings and made a superb half century while all rounder young Dunith Wellalage hit a fighting knock of 32 in 34 balls as a low order batter (number 8 batter )

Sri Lanka is expected to make few changes for the final ODI on Sunday while their aim is to test few other players before the next New Zealand ODI series . In factt New Zealand ODI series is very important for Sri Lanka to direct qualification for the next ODI world cup. Sri Lanka must win 2-0 or 1-0 with one match no decision to get five points for direct qualification and it is going to be very tough as Sri Lanka is scheduled to be play ODI series in New Zealand in their home conditions . However the exposure from this Indian ODI series is very vital for Sri Lanka team said a senior official of SLC.

Most probably Ashen Bandara the brilliant fielder and bowling all rounder and Promod Madushan will get chance to play at the final ODI Sunday . Bandara the 24 year old right hand middle order batter and useful leg spinner who has abilioty to field well at any position is an asset for Sri Lanka team while Promod Madushan hailing from Hambantota the useful right arm

medium placeman also can bat is a good prospect and this is a good opportunity to test them against India .

Meanwhile India side led by Rohit Sharma also hope to make few changes as they already won the series 2-0 . Especially Suryakumar Yadev could not find a place for last two ODI’s while Ishan Kishan the wicket keeper and opener was also on the bench during last two ODI ‘s and India also wanted to give this players to get match exposure and they already have an idea to make few changes on the final ODI on Sunday . Two teams were scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram yesterday and they will do a training session today.
