Probe into stolen Saman Devala Till money

A special investigation has been initiated under Ratnapura DIG Priyantha Liyanage regarding the theft of the collection till fund of the Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Devalaya. The money given by the devotees has been kept at this place and  the theft has taken place when the Devalaya premises is surveilled by 60 CCTV cameras.

DIG Liyanage said that the fact that the theft was not caught by any of the cameras indicates that the theft has taken place during the power outage.

“If not, a person or a group who frequents this place must have assisted to carry out this theft”, he said.

The DIG said that steps will be taken to provide the necessary instructions to the guardians of the temple regarding the security of the store where the money is stored.
