Talawakelle police stated that a baby was found abandoned in a three-wheeler parked near the Hindu Kovil in Talawakelle yesterday (08) around 5.45 am.
The employees of the Talawakelle Lindula Municipal Council, who came to clean the city in the morning, heard a small child crying and found the child in the back seat of the three-wheeler and informed the police about the incident.
It has also been revealed that the same three-wheeler is parked near the Kovil every day.
OIC of Thalawakalle Police Station said that the 12-14 day-old baby is in good physical health, and the baby was given mother's milk by a police officer in Talawakelle and handed over to the Lindula regional hospital.
Talawakelle police have started a comprehensive investigation through security camera footage regarding those who left the baby in the three-wheeler.
The baby was admitted to Lindula Regional Hospital and was transferred to Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital for further treatment.
