The England Lions Team will tour Sri Lanka and has scheduled to play two four-day unofficial Test matches and three ODIs against Sri Lanka ‘A’.

The match series commenced with a three-day warm-up game against SLC Board X1 which will be played from January 25 to 27 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

According to the senior official of the SLC, the two four-day unofficial test matches will commence from 31st January to February 3rd while the second four-day Test will commence from February 7 to 120 and both matches are scheduled to be played at Galle International Cricket Stadium.

All three ODI matches will be played on 15, 18, and 21 February at the same venue at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

This will be a good opportunity for the local players who really performed well at the domestic tournaments and National selectors and the Provincial selectors have already selected for the squad to focus on this England lions cricket team series and the official squad will be released next week. Avishka Gunawardena the head coach and his assistant coach Thilina Kandamby are busy with the Sri Lanka ‘A’ squad players while former National cricket opener Charith Senanayake is the Manager of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team. Sri Lanka ‘A’ team finished the successful Australia ‘A’ cricket series last February and after the lapse of one year once again ‘A’ team will get a chance to play the International cricket series. The domestic cricket operation Head of SLC Chintaka Edirimanne said SLC wanted to groom a second-string best team to back up the National team and this type of ‘A’ team series paves the way to make successful players.
