Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawala under 14 stickers were awarded a “ Gold Star “ in group “ D “ at the Girls all Island Schools Hockey tournament, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Hockey Association, played in Matale recently.
In their matches, they beat Seethadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy by 1 goal to nil, Vijaya Balika Vidyalaya, Matale by 1 goal to nil, Ratnawali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha by 3 goals to nil and drew with Rangiri Balika Vidyalaya, Dambulla nil all .
They have bagged this award for the 14th consecutive year, which is an unbeatable record a school has achieved in the history of Girls Hockey . A.N. Perera, an outstanding name as a Coach in Hockey, who has produced many talented players took over the coaching at Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawala in 2004 and guided these youngsters until 2021 and handed over the coaching stint to Chatura Rupasinghe in 2022 , a famous Hockey star produced by President’s College, Maharagama , where he has also done an excellent job to pocket this Gold Star award in the year 2022 too.
