A person was arrested in Kattankudy by the Anti-Terrorist Investigation Division in relation to an investigation on ISIS terrorists on Monday.
According to the information received about a person with extremist views, an arrest has been made on suspicion and an investigation is underway regarding him, the Police Media Spokesman, SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
A special team that went from Colombo together with the officers of the East Unit of the Terrorist Investigation Division had arrested the suspect and he has been brought to Colombo.
It is said that this suspect was arrested some time ago in connection with an extremist terrorist attack in India and had been imprisoned for two years in that country.
SSP Thalduwa, when inquired said that he could not mention anything in that regard and that he has not been informed of such a confirmation. The Terrorist Investigation Division revealed that the arrest of this suspect was based on information received from India.
