Arrested for assaulting two Czech tourists

The Matara Police arrested two youths on suspicion of assaulting two Czech tourists in Madihe, Matara.

Two youths, aged 27 and 30, residing in Thotamuna and Madihe in Matara have been arrested.

These two youths have told the police that the two Czech nationals attacked them first.

The two Czech nationals are about 25-years-old.

Police say that the tourists left for their country yesterday. It is said that two youths had intervened to settle a dispute between the two Czech nationals and a trishaw driver over the fee charged by the driver from the two tourists.

However, a heated argument had ensued between the two youth and the Czech national leading to a fight.
